Housing and Home Ownership:
Economic Breakthrough in Lower Georgia Avenue
By Jim Graham, September 18, 2004, 12:00

In addition to all the strong and positive new development -- much of which involves affordable housing and construction on what has been vacant lots -- we are having on U Street and Columbia Heights, we are also making solid progress on Georgia as well.

This latest breakthrough involves both sides o the western corner at Lamont and Georgia. An old laundry building, employ for many years, will become wonderful affordable loft apartments. I can tell you the views are spectacular.

This large building will join all the progress that is being made at the Ga Ave Petworth Metro station mixed used development. And the soon to be constructed, Senior Wellness Center at 3531 Ga Ave.

I commend Adrian Washington and the Neighborhood Development Co. for all its good work in making this a reality! I am pleased to have been a strong supporter of this project.
